RENEWAL / ALTERATION / ADDITION OR DELETION TO PASSPORTIMPORTANT NOTICE Renewal of passports and issue of new passports to Sri Lankans granted refugee/asylum status in the UK
According to new Sri Lankan Immigration Regulations Sri Lankan citizens who have applied and gained refugee status or asylum in the UK are not entitled to a Sri Lanka passport and also to renew validity of their existing passports with immediate effect. However, temporary travel documents will be issued to the following categories of Sri Lankans for the sole purpose of returning to Sri Lanka. 1. 1. Those who have applied for refugee or asylum status and awaiting decision of the UK government.
2. 2. Those who have applied for refugee or asylum status but have subsequently withdrawn their applications.
3. 3. Those who have given up their refugee or asylum status and have decided to return to Sri Lanka.
4. 4. Those whose applications for asylum or refugee statues have been rejected by the UK government in which such status has been sought.

Application forms can be obtained
RENEWAL (a) Which has been issued more than one year ago & (b) You have being living in the UK for more than three years; you are required to submit a letter from the Immigration & Nationality Department in UK, to confirm that you have not acquired or have not applied for UK Citizenship. Forms to be used for this purpose can be downloaded from Home Office web site (www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk). This form should be completed and posted by you to the Immigration & Nationality Department in UK with their fee. This confirmation should be submitted along with your application for a new passport. The letter should have been obtained not later than six months from the date of submitting this application. (v) If the applicant is a Dual Citizen and if there is no endorsement in the passport to that effect, then the original Dual Citizenship Certificate should be provided with a photocopy in place of the letter from the Home Office. ALTERATIONS
Inclusion of children born in the UK or Ireland can be done only after the registration of birth of such children with this High Commission. In this regard please refer the section "REGISTRATION OF BIRTH OUTSIDE SRI LANKA". The inclusion of names and photographs of children can be done only into a 'M' series passport of a parent / legal guardian (passport number beginning with the letter 'M') Particulars of children cannot be included in the 'N' Series passports and therefore a separate passport should be obtained for the child. SUBMISSION OF FORGED BIRTH CERTIFICATES OR ANY OTHER DOCUMENTS AND MAKING FALSE DECLARATIONS RELATING TO THE CITIZENSHIP STATUS IS AN OFFENCE. SUCH CASES WILL BE REPORTED TO RELEVANT AUTHORITIES AND PAYMENTS WILL NOT BE REFUNDED. Forms to be downloaded as necessary
