SOUTH AFRICA: Harrison Ford, star of the fourth and latest
Indian Jones thriller The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, has
chosen Sri Lanka as "the one location that stands out as being
so impressive".
The second film in the series, The Temple of Doom, was shot on
location in Sri Lanka with a supporting cast of local actors.
Many local technicians were also involved.
"I loved the culture of Sri Lanka. I had the opportunity to eat
the local food and ride on an elephant and do the weird little
stuff that one would normally never have the chance to do," he
told interviewer Scot Orlin from The Times, South Africa.
Apart from David Lean's Oscar winner The Bridge on the River
Kwai, Steven Spielberg's Temple of Doom was the biggest
blockbuster shot in Sri Lanka. The movie featured several
amazing hill country locations and Sinhalese dialogues.
