Though children in the North of Sri Lanka have resumed their education after the end of the conflict, most of them go to schools without shoes. Major Gen G A Chandrasiri, Governor of the Northern Province made a request for assistance to buy shoes for these children.

Mr. Pat Nabhan, Chief Executive Officer of QiComm UK donated £ 5000 to purchase shoes for school children of the Kilinochchi District. HE the High Commissioner Justice Nihal Jayasinghe received the donation at the High Commission on 30 September 2010. Deputy High Commissioner P. M. Amza and Defence Attaché Brigadier Nirmal Dharmaratne were also present.
